Venerable Shi Wu Shin

Yung-Jen Huang, better known by his Buddhist name Shi Wu Shin, was born in 1962 in Tainan County, Taiwan Province. He graduated from Provincial Pingtung Normal Junior College in 1983, and worked as an elementary school teacher for five years. During his school days, he had the initial contact with Buddha dharma through the introduction of Professors Qiu-dong Hou and Bo-da Chen. And he also attended various activities at college such as Buddhist society, Precept and Abstinence association and lectures on Buddhism…etc.


Starting from year 1988, he spent his free time following Venerable Master Chin Kung to learn Buddha dharma and attended the Buddhism Introduction Seminar at Hwa Zan Buddhist Auditorium, the Corporate Body of the Buddha Education Foundation.

 

Afterwards, he acted as a teaching assistant for another two years. In 1990, after completing his service as a teacher, he rendered his resignation and left for Dallas, America to learn Buddha’s teaching with Master Chin Kung.

 

In September of year 1991, Master Wu Shin became a monk at Dallas Buddhist Association under Master Chin Kung and was given the Buddhist name Xin Ping, alias Wu Shin. Then he traveled with the Venerable Master Chin Kung to every state in Northwest of America for Buddhist dissemination. At the end of year 1991, he received full ordination at Sun Moon Buddhist Temple, Kaohsiung.

 

He then went to Hwa Zan Buddhist Education Library under the guidance of Master Chin Kung and followed Master to China and Singapore for Buddhist propagation.

 

In year 1993, he was requested to go to Dallas to set up new monasteries and hosted seven-day retreats and lectures on Buddhism. He was also invited to give speeches at two universities in Texas, USA.

 

In year 1995, he left for San Jose to give speeches under the invitation of Amitabha Buddhist Society of USA.

 

In 1996, Venerable Wu Shin went back to Hwa Zan Buddhist Education Library to give lectures on The Amitabha Sutra. In September of the same year, he left for Queensland, Australia.

 

During that period of time, he also traveled to various cities in Australia, various countries in Europe, USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and South-East Asia to propagate Buddhist education.

 

Venerable Wu Shin practices and promotes Pure Land School Buddhism only.

 

Venerable Wu Shin is now the Executive Vice President of Pure Land Learning College, the appointed Buddhist chaplain of Queensland University (Australia), the Executive Vice President of the Amitabha Buddhist Association of Queensland Inc. (Australia), the President of the Amitabha Buddhist Association of Melbourne, Vice President of Amitabha Buddhist Association of NSW Inc. and the abbot of the Ultimate Bliss Temple in Tainan.
